This is the cycle I finished for the knight. I went with just a standing cycle and an attack cycle. I used a nested cycle to accomplish both, but had a mix of frame by frame animation and motion tweens. I animated the knight in Adobe Flash and imported a .swf file into AE so i can throw in the background and chest by itself.
